About
Having trained at Lansdowne Studios, first as an assistant, and then as one of two in-house engineers, Mark has great experience in many aspects of recording and mixing. Mark has also spent a considerable amount of time working at Lansdowne’s sister studio CTS in Wembley, now moved to Watford Town Hall. Unfortunately both these studios have now ceased trading.
Mark has experience in recording a great variety of music, ranging from Rock ’n’ Roll bands through to Dance and Jazz acts.
A vast majority of Mark's experience has been with session musicians recording for Film & Television, involving recording anything from quartets to large symphony orchestras & choirs.
In January 2001 Mark began work as a freelance sound engineer, continuing to work on more varied projects, recording both in the UK and abroad. This work has involved orchestral recordings in Europe, such as Prague and Hungary, as well as world music recordings in India, Egypt and Cuba.
Recording in Egypt has usually involved working in professional recording studios, however no such luxuries were available in India and Cuba. For this Mark used his my mobile recording set-up to capture live performances of local musicians playing indigenous folk music from around the world.
As well as creating music behind the scenes, Mark is also heavily involved in writing, producing and arranging for several popular artists. This has meant performing as a musician, usually playing keyboards at live gigs as well as on recordings.
In 2007 Mark launched a record and publishing company called Ho Hum Records. More information about this can be found at Record Label.
